Just detailed and washed/waxed the Civic. It's like having a brand new car.
Used an interior dressing for all of the vinyl and plastics.
Vacuumed everything else
I really need to steam the floor.
Probably the coolest part was cleaning the b pillar. Never seen anything make such a dramatic difference.
Under the hood got a bit of love. Vacuumed out all of the junk that fell from my tree, wiped down some of the larger surfaces and all of the hoses, polished up the CAI tube a bit, and scrubbed the underside of the hood which was FILTHY and had a ton of junk caked on
After a brief fight with the sprayer I got the car hosed off. The power washer took off the sharpie that was disguising all of the paint chips on the front bumper D:
All waxed up. Despite all of the hail damage and dings, really not bad. Sitting in the car is like having something brand new. It smells fresh and everything feels so sterile to the touch. I love it.
Also, it turns out my engine might be burning oil to the tune of 2 quarts per month. Time for a new one.

Looks a lot tidier!
Are the stripes on the steering wheel part of the design? Or is that your deadzone?

I really need to steam the floor.
Not stripping and caging it anymore?

Looking nice! What products do you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Are you autocrossing it on Sunday?

3M interior dressing, a vacuum, I have a steamer but I didn't feel like dragging it out, lots and lots of rags, some soap/water, scrubby brushes, turtle wet wax, and a power washer with a special oscillating head.

That was the plan for another civic. This one is far too nice for that.

I actually have another D16 with about 80k fewer miles on it lying around that actually has decent compression and a trans that isn't totally fucked. Going to swap that in assuming I don't break any more fucking bolts off trying to get the engines out.

Yeah, that's part of the design. I have no idea why.

and if that fails then R1 motor?

$20 + gas there and back. Not sure I can swing that, then again the Civic gets rather good highway fuel economy.

Turtle wet wax? Do you mean butter wet wax, or is there really a turtle wet wax? How is the 3M stuff? I haven't used any of their stuff, but I'm gonna be using their headlight kit($10 on Amazon!!!) sometime soon.
I did the interior, trunk and door jams on my car last weekend and it looks pretty good.
I definitely agree that detailing is a spectacular art, overlooked by many, but also done poorly by many others. But when it's done right, it's fantastic!

I really don't know for sure what it was.. I thought it was Turtle, but I could be wrong.
The 3M stuff was pretty good stuff, actually. I'm impressed. It's sort of scummy for a day but it turns into a nice shine on the vinyl and does a great job turning faded plastic back to black.

That's cool. I prefer a OEM natural shine on the interior so I use some Megs natural shine stuff I got pretty cheap.
And if you don't mind me asking, what steam machine do you have, and how much did it cost? If it's manageable I might look into one in the future...

I honestly have no clue. I might check tomorrow if I have enough time after work to mess with it
